Turkish & English Doctoral Program Application and Other Conditions

Dear Prospective Students, Please carefully read the document at the link regarding the ANKARA UNIVERSITY 2026-2027 ACADEMIC YEAR SPRING SEMESTER DOCTORAL PROGRAM APPLICATION CONDITIONS prepared by the Student and Information Technology Coordination Office.

APPLICATION AND SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • International applicants and Turkish citizens who completed their entire undergraduate education abroad from bachelor’s programs whose equivalence is recognized by the Council of Higher Education will not be required to submit ALES scores.
  • International applicants must submit a TÖMER C1 level Turkish proficiency certificate.
  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from one of the following disciplines: Physics, Physics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Energy Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Biotechnology, Medicine, Biology, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy and Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Aircraft and Space Engineering, Aeronautics and Space Engineering, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, Health Physics, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geophysics, Mining, Automotive Engineering, Control Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Quality Control Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Astronomy and Space Sciences, and Astrophysics.
  • As an application area, in addition to all the disciplines listed above, applicants from Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Defense, Communications and Telecommunications fields may be accepted on condition that they complete scientific preparation, due to their potential contributions to the accelerator system construction and the potential to conduct laser applications and obtain new results after the laser is obtained.
  • Applications must be made online through the https://basvuru.ankara.edu.tr/ website. There is no need for prospective students to apply in person to the Accelerator Technologies Institute.
  • Interviews (oral and written) will be conducted by the relevant Department of Science.
  • Applicants who are eligible to enter graduate programs must submit the required documents online to the relevant Institute during registration for the final enrollment procedures to be completed.
  • For Turkish and international applicants who completed their education outside Turkey, if they meet the admission conditions, the Institute will consult with the Council of Higher Education Presidency regarding the appropriateness of their bachelor’s/master’s education for their final registration.
  • If international students completed their entire undergraduate education in a Turkish-taught institution, the Turkish language certificate requirement from TÖMER and/or Yunus Emre Institute is not required for the Master’s program.

REQUIRED CONDITIONS AND DOCUMENTS FOR TURKISH & ENGLISH – DOCTORAL APPLICATION

  1. Bachelor’s Graduation Certificate.
  2. Bachelor’s Graduation Transcript – must be at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent of 100 points. (A document containing explanatory information about the university’s grading system and passing grade will be submitted.)
  3. Foreign Language Certificate for Thesis Master’s Program. (YDS, YÖKDİL or international exam equivalent accepted by ÖSYM must be at least 55 points.)
  4. ALES (Quantitative) must be at least ≥60.
  5. 1 photograph.
  6. Copy or photocopy of ID card.

Valid Exams for Applicants to Programs

  • ALES Result Certificate validity period is 5 years.
  • YDS and e-YDS Foreign Language Exam validity period is 5 years.
  • For applications to Turkish & English Thesis Master’s Program: YDS/YÖKDİL exams and foreign language exams conducted by Ankara University School of Foreign Languages are valid.
  • For applications to Doctoral Program: YDS/YÖKDİL exams and foreign language exams conducted by Ankara University School of Foreign Languages are valid.
  • To learn the equivalent score of an internationally recognized foreign language exam accepted by ÖSYM,
  • For the Council of Higher Education 4.0 Scale Grades Correspondence with 100-point Scale Table,

EVALUATION

In student admission to graduate programs; ALES score, bachelor’s GPA and interview result are evaluated. In the evaluation, 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the bachelor’s GPA and 30% of the science exam result are considered, and ranking is made among candidates who score at least 65 points total based on the proposal of the department academic board and the decision of the institute management board.

Certified copies of documents will be obtained, and documents will not be returned to unsuccessful candidates.
