Course Content: Fundamentals of laser: Nature of light, absorption and emission of light, interaction of light and matter, Einstein coefficients, inverse multiplication, optical resonators, gain limit laser modes, Properties of laser light: Laser bandwidth, frequency stabilization, light distribution, light collection, luminance, Laser focusing properties of light, Q-switching, mode locking, frequency doubling, Operation of lasers: gas lasers, atomic lasers, ion lasers, Molecular lasers: carbon dioxide lasers, nitrogen lasers, Excimer lasers, chemical lasers, Applications: optical tuning, distance measurement, distance measurement, laser spectroscopy: molecular light spectroscopy, Two photon spectroscopy.
