Each summer DESY offers undergraduate students in physics or related disciplines (such as scientific computing and engineering) the opportunity to obtain first-hand research experience at a large international laboratory. Students are invited for an 8 week training period to experience research in one of the various fields pursued at DESY:

  • Photon science
  • Elementary particle physics & accelerators
  • Astroparticle physics

Selected candidates will join in the day-to-day work of research groups at the DESY laboratory in Hamburg or Zeuthen (close to Berlin). Research projects can be categorised into different types of activities: practical work on detectors or experimental equipment, physics data analysis, software development, theory and scientific computing.
